Wesley Sache and his family own and operate Sache Farms in Chiefland, Florida. The farm started four generations ago with Wesley’s great grandfather becoming a citizen and establishing a farm. They proudly produce watermelons, peanuts, hay, beef cattle, oats and grass seed.
Mr. Sache has been implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) for at least 15 years. BMPs are a set of guidelines that advise producers on how to manage the water, nutrient, and pesticides they are using to reduce agriculture’s impact on the state’s natural resources. Sache Farms uses modern irrigation and soil practices to conserve water. Mr. Sache also extracts soil samples regularly to make sure fertilizer is being applied correctly.
Mr. Sache is actively involved in his local community, having served on the Suwannee River Fair Board, the Farm Service Agency (FSA) Board and currently a board member of the Levy County Farm Bureau. Mr. Sache is a lifetime member of the National FFA Organization and he and his family attend Pine Grove Baptist Church.
