Aderholt Hay Farms, Suwannee County
Ricky Aderholt produces hay, small grains and peas. While they primarily produce hay, no-till crops are used year-round as a secondary crop and to increase soil health and prevent soil erosion. Aderholt Hay Farms utilizes UF/IFAS recommended practices and scouting reports to help with timely and effective pesticide usage on an as needed basis. Constant soil sample monitoring and precise nutrient applications combined with split applications per harvest help minimize excessive inputs which result in greater profit for the farm and help minimize runoff. Mr. Aderholt believes that stewardship is about maintaining and improving the natural resources that are available to ensure that both the quality and quantity of those resources are sustainable for the future.
