LAND AGRIBUSINESS

Adrian and Melissa Land operate on their family’s farm in Lafayette County. Since the 1820s, this family farm has produced watermelons, sod and cattle.

Through the use of Best Management Practices (BMPs), the Land’s have reduced overall water use by 50%. Through a partnership with IFAS where soil samples are taken weekly to test and manage nutrient levels, they are able to apply fertilizers precisely. Additional BMPs include using ladybug relocation to prevent aphids and planting rye to prevent wind erosion.

Florida Farm Bureau Federation is proud to award a 2019 CARES designation and sign to Adrian and Melissa Land and family for their dedication in being outstanding environmental stewards.
