ABOUT Adrian and Melissa Land
The Land Family have been operating their Lafayette County production since the 1820s focusing on watermelons, sod and cattle.
Through the use of Best Management Practices (BMPs), the Lands have reduced water usage by 50% conserving surrounding waterways. They utilize their partnership with IFAS through soil sampling every week testing and managing nutrient levels. Additional BMPs include using ladybug relocation and the planting of rye which, prevents aphids and decreases wind erosion.
The Lands are heavily involved in their registered brahman cattle operation, marketing their watermelons and selling their sod to the city of Jacksonville.
Florida Farm Bureau Federation is proud to award a 2019 CARES designation and sign to Adrian and Melissa Land and family for their dedication in being outstanding environmental stewards.
