ABOUT HALL’S TIGER BAY RANCH

Hall’s Tiger Bay Ranch is a multigenerational cow-calf operation with deep roots in Florida agriculture and environmental stewardship. In 1938, M. Lewis Hall, Sr. purchased nearly 20,000 acres of land in DeSoto County, designated as Pine Island Ranch. During this time, multiple families, including the Lykes, the Parkers and the Kings families utilized this land to raise beef cattle. Years later, more family members went on to manage the land raising 2,000 head of beef cattle at one point in time.

Today, M. Lewis Hall, Jr. and his sons, M. Lewis Hall, III and Judge Don T. Hall, along with their respective wives, continue the family’s legacy of sustainable ranching through Hall’s Tiger Bay Ranch, in the hopes of passing their heritage down to the fourth generation, their children. The family also operates an organic farming operation, known as Aloe Organics, which was named in loving memory of Allison Hall.

Environmental stewardship has been a priority for this family ranch from its inception. Through implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) and partnering with agencies to protect natural resources and water quality, the Hall family accomplishes their goal of being a sustainable operation.

Some of the most effective BMPs implemented include cross fencing with rotational grazing to prevent erosion, setbacks to prevent nutrient runoff, and solar pumps to prevent runoff and contamination.

They partner with USDA to implement a conservation plan to manage rangelands, reduce invasive species and plant back with native species. The ranch also partners with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to manage and increase native wildlife species. The goal is to preserve the land and wildlife habitats for generations to come.

The Hall family has been involved in many civic and industry organizations. These include, Florida Championship Rodeo, Florida and Desoto County Cattleman’s Association, DeSoto County Farm Bureau, Leadership Florida, and the Orange Bowl Committee, among others.

Florida Farm Bureau is honored to present Judge Don T. Hall and Mrs. Cynthia Hall and their family with a 2019 CARES designation and sign for their dedication in being outstanding environmental stewards.
