Marjorie R. Sellers Irrevocable Trust, Hernando County

Owned and operated by William Sellers, Marjorie R. Sellers Irrevocable Trust is a beef cattle operation in Brooksville. Owned and operated by William Sellers, the ranch has been enrolled in Best Management Practices since 2018 and has protected water resources by minimizing and protecting the land around bodies of water. They utilize cover crops and rotational grazing to protect waterways and improve soil health.

Additionally, Mr. Sellers has worked to restore natural resources by restoring longleaf pines, reintroducing native grasses and using controlled burns to enhance soil health and biodiversity, improve water quality and promote a sustainable ecosystem. He believes a healthier pasture leads to better forage, which supports healthy cattle.

When asked what environmental stewardship means to him, Mr. Sellers said, “environmental stewardship means nurturing the land and ecosystems that sustain our livelihoods and communities. It involves responsible land management practices that protect water systems, preserve wildlife habitats, and promote biodiversity which is important for our cattle and the various species living within a fragile ecosystem. Responsible stewardship is not just an obligation; it is a commitment to our land and its lasting legacy.”
