MCGRIFF FARMS

McGriff Farms is a family business owned Shedrick and Denise McGriff. Together, along with their two sons, Marcus and James, they produce corn, peanuts, cotton, peas and oats in Bascom, Florida. Environmental protection is a top priority for this family family and they diligently work to protect and preserve local water resources in Jackson County by implementing Best Management Practices.

Some of the most effective BMPs implemented include using variable rate fertilizer application to precisely apply nutrients exactly where needed. Soil samples are taken regularly around the property in order to analyze the nutritional content and make decisions towards nutrient management. Cover crops are also planted to help retain soil moisture and improve soil health.

McGriff is actively involved as a deacon board member at New Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, member in Beginning Farmers at Farm Credit, COC Committee Member at FSA, a member of Cattlemen Association and a member of American Movement, Inc.

McGriff Farms has also received the 2018 Jackson County Farm Bureau Family Farm of the Year for their outstanding environmental efforts. Florida Farm Bureau Federation is proud to award a 2019 CARES designation and sign to Shedrick McGriff and family, of McGriff Farms, for their dedication in being outstanding environmental stewards.
