Rocky’s

Rocky’s has been in operation since 2015 when Joe Mattingly began growing citrus trees in Taylor County.

Joe now farms on 62 acres and implement a conservation program that is not only extensive but highly effective.  Through implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) on each parcel of land they accomplish their goals of reducing water, nutrient and chemical use, improving water quality and protecting surrounding coastal and wildlife habitats.

Some of their most effective BMPs have included using calibrated nozzles on their irrigation system in order to match the demand for water. Implementing this has helped to decrease the amount of water used on the operation. The sprayer that is used on the operation has also had eyes installed to turn on and off automatically to ensure that they are only spraying when needed.

In regards to leadership, Joe is involved in the Petroleum Marketers Association and the Petroleum Equipment Institute.

Florida Farm Bureau Federation is proud to award a 2021 CARES designation and sign to Joe Mattingly for his dedication in being an outstanding environmental steward.
